Order of the deal: Player, Banker, Player, Banker. Player always gets the first card.
Only the last digit of each total counts.
Naturals first. If either hand has 8 or 9 on its first two cards, nobody draws and the hand is over.
Player goes first. On 0 to 5 Player must hit. On 6 or 7 Player stands.
Banker goes second. If Player stood, Banker hits on 0 to 5. If Player hit, Banker's choice depends on the card Player drew (see Rules).

Strategy coach
Pick a betting system. While you play, the coach shows its next bet, tells you why after every hand, and warns you when it runs out of road.
Base bet: (one unit)
Scoreboard · this shoe
Bead Plate
Every hand in order. Read down each column, then move right. Red B is Banker, blue P is Player, green T is Tie.
Big Road
A column keeps going down while the same side keeps winning. When the other side wins, a new column starts. A green slash means a tie came right after that hand.
The board starts over with each new shoe. Past hands don't change the odds of the next one.
The mini-baccarat table
Mini-baccarat is played at a half-moon table like blackjack, usually 7 seats. Tap any part of the table to see what it is.
Tap a spot on the table.
Your seat has three betting spots stacked in front of it. Nearest you is Player, then Banker, then Tie toward the dealer. Some casinos flip the order or add Pair bets; the words are printed right on the felt.
Dealer's boxes in the center are where the two hands are dealt face up. You never touch the cards at mini-bac.
Commission boxes numbered 1 to 7 sit in front of the dealer, one per seat. Your 5% on Banker wins gets tracked there with plastic markers.
The shoe holds 8 decks. Discard rack takes the used cards. The scoreboard screen stands beside the table.
The game in five lines
Two hands are dealt, Player and Banker. You bet on which gets closer to 9, or on a tie.
Ace = 1. Cards 2 through 9 = face value. 10, J, Q, K = 0.
Add the cards and keep only the last digit. 7 + 8 = 15 counts as 5.
An 8 or 9 on the first two cards is a natural. Nobody hits, the hand is over.
Otherwise the dealer applies fixed hit rules. You never make a decision after betting.
When Player must hit
Player total 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 → hits (takes one card, never more)
Player total 6, 7 → stands
Player total 8, 9 → natural. Nobody draws and the hand is over. If Banker also has a natural, the higher one wins, or it ties.
If Banker has the natural (8 or 9), the hand is also over, even if Player has 0 to 5.
When Banker must hit
If Player stood (had 6 or 7), Banker uses the same simple rule: hits on 0 to 5, stands on 6 or 7.
If Player hit, Banker looks at the card Player drew (not Player's new total):
Banker has
Banker hits when Player's third card was
0, 1, 2
Any card. Always hits.
3
Any card except an 8
4
2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7
5
4, 5, 6 or 7
6
6 or 7 only
7
Never. Always stands.
The pattern: the better Banker's hand, the fewer of Player's third cards make it hit. With 0 to 2 it always hits; with 7 it never does.

On a tie, Player and Banker bets push and you get your chips back.
Commission
When Banker wins, the casino keeps 5% of your win. Win 100 on Banker and you owe 5. At a mini-baccarat table the dealer tracks it with markers in your numbered box.
When you pay it: when the shoe ends, when you leave, or whenever the dealer asks. You cannot bet chips you already owe, and if your stack drops below what you owe, the dealer collects on the spot. Good habit: pay it off whenever the box holds more than you would notice.
No-commission tables
Some casinos run mini-baccarat with no 5% commission. Banker wins pay even money, with one catch: if Banker wins with three cards totaling 7, Banker bets push instead.
These tables usually add two side bets in each seat's Tie row:

7.6%
Player 8

Banker's edge here is 1.02%, Player's stays 1.24%. Like Tie, the side bets are fun but expensive. Try it on Play: tap ⚙ and pick the no-commission table.
At a real table
Find a mini-baccarat table. Lower minimums, faster, and the dealer handles all the cards.
Put chips in the oval in front of your seat marked Player, Banker or Tie, then hands off.
The scoreboard of red and blue dots shows past results. Past hands do not change future ones.
Set a budget before you sit. Banker every hand is the mathematically best way to play.

Betting systems
Players use these to decide how much to bet next. Here's how each one works, and what really happens when you test it.
The truth up front: no system changes the odds. Every bet keeps the same house edge, so a system only changes how you win and lose, not whether the house comes out ahead.
Every test plays 1,000 trips of 100 hands each, starting with 1,000 chips, a 25 base bet on Banker and a 5,000 table maximum.
Results change each time because every test deals new cards. What doesn't change: the house keeps about 1 of every 100 bet on Banker, so systems that bet more lose more in the long run. Set a budget before you play, whatever system you use.
